Congrats to Recent Graduates

Did you know that Michael Curtis is about to finish his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at UNLV? Or that Anum Warsi just graduated with her PhD in Pharmacy from Roseman University? Maybe you know Joanne Angosta and Carmela Tayag; they’re about to start their first year of graduate school. Every semester, members of the Interactive Measurement Group get one step closer to reaching their academic and career goals. Read about the recent successes of these and other lab members.

Finding a Roommate for Grad School

Long-term success in your graduate program is contingent on how well you fit with your graduate mentor. However, this isn’t the only match you’ll need to make if you’re moving away to earn your graduate degree. You’re probably going to need to find a roommate that complements your lifestyle and academic goals, too. Confused about how to start? Read Joanne’s tips on finding a roommate for graduate school.

I-You Conversations

It’s really easy to distance yourself from other people, even those you actually care about. However, simply acknowledging someone’s hard work or expressing genuine interest in their day isn’t hard to do. When you recognize another as a person, you are participating in an “I-You” interaction. Learn more about Carl Langley’s experience with “I-You” interactions and how they’ve helped him connect with others.

Small Talk

Small talk is more than just a way to pass the time. It can help you make new friends, get along with colleagues, and network with other professionals. But if you aren’t good at small talk, how can you get better? Kim Barchard shares tips from the book How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere, by Larry King and researcher Bill Gilbert.

UNLV MFT Program Interviews

While the application process for an MFT program is very similar to other social science programs, it differs in some unexpected ways Select to gain some insight into the unique interview process from Michael Curtis, a current MFT student at UNLV.

Living in the Moment

Has something ever happened to you that made you disappointed, angry, sad? Have you ever thought about what happened for so long that it ruined your day?
