Internship at Calm Clinic Psychiatry
Through his internship at Calm Clinic Psychiatry, Jordan is learning what it is like to work in a clinical setting. As a Health Promotions and Awareness Intern, he has been administering surveys, creating a catalog of free community resources, and preparing reports. To learn more about the mental health care industry and the treatment strategies available, Jordan has also been shadowing clinicians performing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and Spravato (Ketamine-treatment), measuring treatment progress, and creating an eight-week group therapy program focused on grief. Finally, he has been assisting with administrative work, for example by operating the front desk and photographing the clinic for their website. His favorite part of the internship is the freedom to decide what he wants to work on, which helps him prepare for his future Ph.D. program in clinical psychology.
Jordan found this Internship opportunity through the UNLV College of Liberal Arts website. With the help of his Academic Advisor, he submitted an application showing his top three site choices. Then he explained why he picked his first choice and attached his resume. Once he was matched with Calm Clinic Psychiatry, he had an interview with the supervisor to make sure he was the right fit. Jordan encourages students to apply to internships offered by the College of Liberal Arts. The application process is easy and the skills and experience you gain are invaluable.
Jordan joined the Interactive Measurement Group in Fall 2023. Since joining the lab, he has led and co-authored conference posters, co-organized writing circles, mentored lab members, and served as the lab website coordinator. Jordan will graduate in Spring 2026 with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in sociology. After graduating he plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and practicing in the mental health field.
