Michal Newhouse-Van VlerinspanIssue 21: Summer 2023
Michal was a member of the Interactive Measurement Group from Spring 2021 to Spring 2022. During these four semesters, she co-authored two research posters, which were presented at the Western Psychological Association and Eastern Psychological Association conferences. She also taught lab members how to conduct confirmatory factor analysis and how to make webpages accessible, and she provided several other presentations. In Fall 2021, she was a teaching assistant for Introductory Statistics, teaching students how to conduct statistical analyses using the computer.
In 2022 and 2023, Michal completed her Research and Creative Honors. Her 97-page honors thesis used hierarchical multiple regression to examine several mediation hypotheses and was titled, Malice Loves Company: The Indirect Effects of Insecure Attachment Styles on the Relationships Between Malice in Meanness in Psychopathy and Sexual Functioning.
Michal graduated with her Bachelors of Arts with Department Honors in Psychology in Spring 2023. Starting in Fall 2023, Michal will be attending UNLV’s Masters of Public Administration Program. Congratulations, Michal!
